Hand-Me-Downs

Received email from Jax's school- case of flu. So I made her nap before gymnastics. She fell asleep like 20 min before we had to go. Bad. I woke them both up, crying, and forcefully dressed them silently and hauled them to car. Once in car, they were fine. The only way to snap Jax out of a mood is distraction. No use chattin' about it.

Emailed director "Which class?" She responded, "Bc you are pregnant, I will tell you Jackie was exposed." Sweet! So
I of course fwd'd that email to P's mom. We both opted to keep the girls home and have a playdate here instead.

I mentioned to her that Jax is finally solidly in 2T pants but I hate to buy more for 3 months of wear. Today she brought over 2 bags of 2T and 24 mos clothes (for both girls) to borrow til her youngest (now 7 months) needs them. Since they aren't baby clothes, I don't mind the "borrowing" concept. She also asked her friends for boy clothes they are done with and showed up with 5 boxes filled to the brim of boy clothes of all sizes. She is like a clothing angel! She seriously is the shiz. And all of it is super nice stuff. Like, stuff I would never pay for full price. People are so awesome.

So anyway, the Jax and P played play-doh and dolls and "pickle butt" and princess while we sorted through clothes.

Then they left and the girls and I put away and tried on the sweet girl stuff and I am itching for alone time to go thru boy clothes.

Some cute Jackie-isms.

She calls the morning, "morningtime." It is adorbs. "Hilly, wake up! It's morningtime!"

I checked on her a little after I put her to bed last night and saw she had traced her hand on her magna doodle. She said "that is my pinky and that is my stumb." Today while tracing my hand, she said "Move your hand a bit, sweetie."

Happy 18 Months, Hilly!

Hillers is officially 1.5 years old. And has this girl given me a run for my money these 6 months (7.5-ish, if we're counting). She is on the move. That has slowed ever so slightly. As you can see from her stats below, she is a tall drink of water! 90th percentile.

Monday- rough bc we were coming off an illness.

Tues- school and swim. Jax is the shiz. Forgot H's umbrella stroller so she sat there like a big girl gobbling pretzels during the lesson. I bribed Jackie w "special treats" to get ready quickly after swim.

Also Hannie went for haircut yesterday so that was a huge deal in the house. Jackie cried for Hannie a lot. "I miss my dog!" We all went to pick up Hannie. She is eating a baby doll right now.

Today- wellness visit. Hilly is rapidly catching up to Jax. As a treat after vaccines, we got mcd's ice cream. Because I wanted it. :)

Must be nice to have a pregnant mom!

Speaking of, Jax informed me today that she is pregnant with the brother of Andy from Toy Story.

Lazy Weekend

Friday: Post u/s eludes me. Post-nap I heard a solitary croup-y sounding cough and knew it was trouble. But we read and colored all day.

Saturday, 5AM: Jax wakes up with croup, so Jim bundles them both up and they go out on the balcony in the rain. I have to laugh because it was dark and I was trying to distract her so I said "it snowed!" (the wet tree branches looked icy). So in the midst of this chaos- all of us outside in the rain and Jackie barking like a seal, Jim looks at me and says "It's not snowing." and, realizing how totally irrelevant his statement was and how he had missed the boat completely, he followed it up with "Are you serious, Clark?" haha

I knew we would have cabin fever in no time. :(

The girls got a visit from Grammy, Pops and Aunt Angie that morning which they loved and tired them out.

Trying to think...

Sunday we took the girls to the mall before it opened and Jackie and Jim threw pennies into the fountain. Holy crap- was this a hit. She was screaming with delight. Hillers is so game for anything. She sat in her stroller, cruising the mall like a champ.

Then pet store which is obviously a hit. Jackie calls it the "dog food store." There was a cat in a glass box at Hilly's level and it jumped up to attack her. Hilly jumped up so high and bolted. This story will never do it justice but I hope I remember her little peanut body flying into the air for the rest of my life.

We attempted a walk in the afternoon and FINALLY that crappy blue umbrella stroller that Jackie loved bc it was cousin Parker's when he was a baby broke. All the sudden I hear Jim yell "whoa! Man down!" and see him with a 3 wheeled stroller. Hahaha.

Today the girls woke up miserable- Jackie whined like a champ about everything. She snapped out of it with goldfish and her magnetic dolls. But when she is whiny she wants to be held- standing up, down steps. In a perfect world I could hold her all the time, the reality is that I can't be carrying her up and down steps constantly and she needs to do that herself. I told her I will hold her all day sitting down but I will not pick her up (regularly) standing up or carry her up/down stairs. That's why my back gave out in October. Lifting from the legs in theory is easy - or when you lift once every few months- but I am lifting little people in/out of cars/high chairs/strollers/cribs/beds/steps/bath tub ALL day, every day. Lifting from legs ain't happening each time. So I everyone must do what they can, including Hilly climbing those damn steps alone.

Ok, enough.

We are homebound waiting for some guy to come tune up our boiler and I am about to lose my mind. I hate waiting for contractors.
