Friday and Saturday Activities

As I type this Monday morning, Hilly is weeping in my lap. She misses Jackie and doesn't want her to go to school. It's really starting to break my heart.  I am eager for Hill's school to start so she has something to take her mind off of missing her best frenemy.

Friday we picked up Jack from school and headed to Emmaus for the car show. It was sooooo much fun and very difficult to leave. We had top notch seats.

Hilly manned the camera as usual.

As we packed to go Jackie asked if we could stay "just 2 more hours." Benny yelled "I'm not ready!" And tried to kiss me good-bye. He was down in the basement playing trains w his BFF Gabe.
Jack took my phone Sat morning and took these pics:

Then I took it back and the girls worked in the books we got from our old neighbors.
Jack brought home a tiny container of play dough from school on Friday and the girls were fist fighting over it so I googled homemade play dough and we all made some play dough.
It was a total flop! Hahaha but they didn't care.
Also brought home from old neighbors: a shark costume. Hilly still insists on being a princess for Halloween but a shark would be sooo much cooler!
Hilly w camera again:

5 pm mass: Ben yelled "is this a castle? Who is talking? Is this a song?" Embarassing. Jim and Ben lasted 10 min. The rest of us lastes 24. We brought snacks but no coloring supplies. Note to self.
Walking to a nearby restaurant for dinner.

Jack behind the lense:

We found a worm on our walk home.
Our neighbors were out. Em put blush on Jackie. Some dreams do come true!

Happy 4th Bday Hilly

Dear Hilly,

I can't believe you are 4. With the same free spirit of the little 1.5 year old who never stopped climbing and running and exploring.  I regularly think "Wow. This girl is going to be the coolest adult. Mom. Grandma. Friend. Aunt. Cousin." You wear your heart on your sleeve. You are not a mean girl. You love having fun. You are not shy. You disarm people with your questions and stories and openness.
Your ability to focus is amazing.  I love watching you concentrate. You love to lose to yourself in a book. Or a good show. I still laugh when I remember our drive to FL- how you sat in the way back with a snack in your lap and your movie all set up next to you, snuggled in a blanket and silently content for like 5 hours.  You are my kinda gal.
But you also aren't afraid to throw it down- start screaming and crying when things don't go your way. But this happens WAY less frequently than it used to.

You mastered swimming lessons this summer - you went from just wanting to hang out on lounge chairs and snacking to swimming like a little fish. Nobody looks cuter in their goggles than you. You just bop around the pool, in your own little world. Coolest kid on the block.

Hillary Lennox Higgins, you are the woman of my dreams.

I love you.

Hilly Bday and Days 2 and 3 of kindergarten

Wed is gym day so she wears gym clothes that day.

She was pretty bummed on Thurs when she had to rock the uniform again.
Jack left and Hilly was really weepy about it. But she perked up at Aunt Donna's Frozen card with stickers. Update: all 3 of Jack's cards included frozen stickers! Super awesome. And Aunt B sent balloons from Chicago. Super exciting.
And the boy.
We hit up story time at the little zoo and Hilly was stuck on Benny like glue. She told her friend Kennedy "I am just here with my brother. Just me and Ben." Then when I showed Payton and Kennedy pics of Jack in her uniform, Hilly burst into tears. It was really sad. I am missing Jack pretty bad too.

Drew and Benny hung out.
The story. They pet an armadillo named Magnolia.
Ant Farm from Kennedy and crew which I am sooooo excited about.
Goats.

Water.
We came home for lunch and Hilly and I baked cupcakes and decorated the dining room. I tried to keep her busy so her mind was off Jack.

We picked up Jack and headed straight for HAC where she photographed her beloved sis.

Selfie w my friend Nicole.
Selfie with me and my girls.
