Below is the result when I say "Smile!"
I don't think I've ever been so moved by a cheesey grin.
So Fri evening, we got to hang w P and Lala which I forgot to photograph. Let the record reflect that it happened.
Saturday we had a classmate's bday party where neither Hilly nor P could attend. Dude. Jack straight up adopted Emily as her little sis. And her and Kyle (shyest kids in the place) totes played. It was heartwarming.
Also, at one point I said "go find Abby and play" and she found Abby but Abby was busy w other kids. Jack looked at me from across the room and shrugged like "She's busy? Who do I play with now?" EXCELLENT way to approach a situation. Betsy saw this and immediately lead Jack back to Kyle and Emily (they wandered off w their dad).
Pizza w Abby.
I was reunited w my man Ben when I came home.
He did not disappoint.
Jackie missed Hill SO much that for the rest of the weekend she didn't leave her side.
Ben just continued flashing his 2 pearlies.
Hilly's new thing is holding Ben. Ben hates it. Haha
This morning Jack screamed "mommy! Daddy! I fell out of bed!" I woke up to the thump so I feared the worst. The worst being that the whole house would now be up. I brought her in our bed (where she wanders in about 1x/week) and she goes "Daddy? Why did Mommy bring me in here?" In my head I was like "Wtf?? I mean.... " So I carried her back. 2 minutes later Jim and I hear her telling hilly (who she obviously woke up-but being woken up prematurely by your big sis trumps being woken up by your parents prematurely, I've learned) that it's still dark out so not time to get up. She then started on this diatribe that went something like "Hilly, don't worry about people dying. They only die when they are very old. Mommy won't die and Daddy won't die. It's okay. Don't worry."

I am like devastated by this conversation on a spiritual level. This is a devastating reality and it is a wretched part of life. The fact that she is grappling with it at the age of 4 just saddens me. I told Jim I'm really upset and he said "She is just learning about it, so it's natural that it's on her mind." I guess phrasing it like this helps but it was heartbreaking to hear.
Then tonight she was playing "beach" with Hill and said "My mommy died." I said "That makes me sad." She said "No, mommy. Not you. You didn't die with God. I'm pretending. It's a different mommy. Just pretend dying." Just some light hearted Sunday afternoon pretend!
