Happy New Year!

Tonight Jim took these pics at Grammy and Pops- and while I know my kids are all under the age of 5, I feel like they look so old.
And I totally get why parents are like "I'm proud of you" to their kids for doing nothing- bc I see these pics and I feel proud even though they are doing nothing but petting their canine cousin.
I'm generally just proud that they are my kids and I'm obsessed w them and every single thing they do.
Jack stole my phone without my knowledge and photographed us having dinner.
And her bro walking near the stairs.
And the laundry room.
Jack FINALLY gave me her resolution: to learn to cut with scissors better. Yawn fest, right? I was hoping for something like "be kinder to my siblings" "start to learn about history" "visit every zoo in the northeast." But the fact that she humors me by discussing resolutions and having conversations about that stuff pleases me.

I always force my kids to view every sunset we come across (usually while driving), make sure we look for and gaze at the moon (as we walk to our front door or to our car) and take deep breaths to appreciate the warm summer air (while leaving the gym) or cool winter air (again, on our race to the car) oh and my favorite (rolling down the windows en route to gymnastics) listening to the crickets "sing." Jim kindly points out that it's their gross little bug wings rubbing together but I prefer my version of events. My resolution is actually go out of our way to appreciate these simple pleasures. Like, at the beach, walk to find a good place to see the sunset. Seek out a good place to check out the moon and stars. Make it my priority to be an even cheesier mom.

I love my kids.
