Chilling w dada before he took the girls to see the Peanuts movie so I could get ready for Xmas.
Louie watching the madness of us getting ready for mass. The kids were so hyper and it was wonderfully warm out.
Jim, Hilly and Ben lasted 5 minutes into the actual mass. We arrived an hour early to make sure we got a spot.
Jack and I walked home after the service.
The kids set the table and we had pasta, my 2nd fave (Mexican being my first).
Jim made cookies for Santa- they decorated them. We set out cookies and carrots and hit the hay.
Santa came. He brought super cool and educational toys but then also, like, Cinderella's coach. My favorite gifts was a plastic model of the human body with squishy organs you place inside the body cavity. Jack and I had a really fun time playing with it.
The girls also each got a box of crafts and art supplies. Hilly's drawings are really coming along. She is like I was- a fast and prolific sketcher. While Jack will work for hours on a masterpiece. I love seeing what they each choose to draw. Jack tends to recreate on paper events that actually happened in her life (all of us around a dinner table, herself in ballet class w her teacher and friends) while Hilly tends to draw scenarios from her imagination, books (humpy dumpty on a wall, a person next to a shark, a castle with a horse and Knights)
Benny's big gift was all the monster trucks from Blaze. He carries them everywhere. He LOVES blaze.
We stopped in to see my dad and Marilyn and Gma Shoemaker. She was at my aunt Sally's but we had a fun time.
We then stopped at my mom's which was a whirlwind and I took zero pics. Awesome as usual.
Then up to Aunt Katie's:
She got all the girls Anna costumes that are sooooo awesome!!!!! Hilly has worn hers nonstop- when she isn't dressed in her costume from Nana or Santa or her infamous pirate dress.
Griffin is a really fun kid and getting to know Esme's personality is really fun.
These 2 below are going to be really tight as teenagers, I fear.
The next day we did the playground and lunch and hung around. It was a really nice visit.
Hilly received Minion press on nails in her stocking. Gross!
Acting as Lou's vet:
Pool day w friends. Buddies.
The kids.
Hilly was doing awesome in the pool and testing out her swimming skills. She panicked though at one point where she couldn't stand and had to be saved by a life guard (or me dashing to her and asking a man to please grab her and then the lifeguard arrived). I am eager to get her back in the pool so she doesn't develop a phobia.
PirAte costume from aunt Katie. This girl loves to dress up, man.
This great shot of Benny laughing at our friends' house the other night. They have 3 boys.
The next day was a play date at Abby's. Benny and Drew just quietly play for hours. If they fight, Drew apologizes to Benny after Benny cries and they move on and keep playing. Their friendship is not only very rare for their young age (it's been this way for awhile), but it is effortless. I wonder if they will be good friends when they grow up. My friend and Drew's mom, Lisa, would be offended by my mere suggestion at them losing touch. And Will and Jackie have the craziest relationship of all.... Don't even get me started.
Next day, hilly ran into a banister and almost poked her eye out.
