Rehoboth Mini Vacay

Our friends invited us to stay for a few days at their parents' beach house (Betsy and crew) and we happily took them up on their offer. First we went shopping for kid snacks.  After so many kid snacks this summer, my kids will be lucky if I buy them another cheez-it within the next 6 months.  Just the sight of one makes me sick.

We arrived and found they had 2 new hermit crabs- Elsa and Hermy.  At one point Hilly wanted to hold the crab and someone wasn't letting her so she grabbed the entire plastic hermit crab habitat on its side and ran away with it- all the sand and decorative accents were all in a heap.  I was like "uhhh.... eeeks" Hill got a time out.  In fact there were a lot of time outs given for not sharing and not being nice.  I recognize this is age appropriate and a part of parenthood but it still bummed me out.  I just want everyone to get along.  How generic does that sound?

The first night we walked up to the boardwalk.

First ride: teacups.  SO fun.

Then we basically hit up the kiddie ride circuit.

The beach the next day.  Monday it was HOT.  Like so hot Kyle and I ran into the cold ocean getting as wet as possible, both of us taking turns saying "This feels so good.  This feels so good."  I'm not kidding when I say I thought we were going to die it was so hot walking to the beach.  And it was only a few short blocks.

The 2nd night we hit up a restaurant in Dewey called Que Pasa- the kids can play in the sand and on the bay while Betsy and I drank margaritas and discussed the Tiger Mom parenting technique.  I decided I want to raise my kids like an Asian-American mother would.  She agreed.  Jim told me I was insane.

The second day at the beach (which I'm not seeing pics of) was awesome- perfect weather. The kids played in the sand.  Only a small rain shower and Hilly having to pee took us home.  That night we wanted to do the boardwalk again before we left.  En route we pass this little frog pond which is very exciting.  Tadpoles, fish, etc... On a prime piece of real estate I'd like to add.

Kyle Jack and I did the Sea Dragon and then we all did the Carousel.  And lastly the tea cups.  Below is how the girls passed out.  We left on Wed around noon after walking up Rehoboth Ave to Dunkin Donuts, window shopping and then cleaning the house up.  Sigh.  There is nothing quite like the beach.

Found the missing pics of the trolley ride and our dinner at Que Pasa:
