Since we are on vacation next week, today was Jackie's last day of school. It truly feels like yesterday that it was Halloween. Maybe that is what happens when you spend the greater part of the school year gestating. Haha, Ahhhh.... I kid.
Anyway, I can only speculate as to what
worth each childhood experience is/will be to her, while trying to limit collateral damage and help her realize she is naturally awesome. My mom and I always debate my own childhood experiences- her recollection/interpretation of something is often so different than my own- and I am positive it will be this was between me and my kids also. I told her I remember feeling very shy at times and she looked at me like I was insane and said "Of all the things people have said about you, shy wasn't one of them." See?
Jack gave her teachers big hugs and their gifts before we left and Ms Wanda said she had just started to open up and talk recently so it's a shame the year is ending. She also said that Jackie is an awesome kid. And she is- her badass outfits, her sass, her ability to relay awesome conversations and events, her kindness... Yesterday on way to 'nastics (we had make up classes for everything since we won't be here next week), I got upset about a traffic jam and she got very concerned and said "Don't worry, mama. They are all just going to gymnastics too! It's going to be okay!" and it was so sweet and then I shaped up and chilled out. Then we saw a PT Cruiser on fire.
I can say with confidence that she met her very best friend this year at school- and her first female BFF! She loves her some P (and who can blame her bc P is seriously awesome). She also dealt with class troublemakers. As far as academics, I try to get what I can out of her- but I think it centered around play (as I read online that it should). And she absolutely loved her teachers. I loved hearing daily stories about the classroom drama and who said what, etc. And her random references to chapel and other activities I forgot they did in there. :)
Also, when her and Hilly would reunite after a day of school, there were big hugs and excitement and laughter before the inevitable fight over Jackie's sippy cup would begin.
Cute story- en route to LG yesterday we heard beautiful church bells in the car since our windows were down. She said, "Mom! It sounds like Christmas!" Eeks, maybe we should take her to church more!
Anyway, happy last day of 2 year old pre-school, Jax! I am proud of you for waltzing in there not knowing a soul. You were very brave. I knew you would love it! :)
