Saturday Jim put Jackie'a big girl bed up, complete with a bed tent, in the room the girls will share (currently Hilly's room). Jackie was so excited. Last night I met up w Jackie's godmother for dinner so Jim was on bedtime duty himself. He said he put H down first. 15 min later, Jackie went down- with H still awake but quiet. When he sent me this text, I had NO faith it would work out. Jim said that he heard footsteps and lots of giggles. At one point he opened the door and Jackie was standing on the edge of H's crib, looking in. When Jim threatened her with her crib (nap time was a failure and ended w Jack being exiled to her old crib), Jack said "but Hilly keeps waking me up!" Surrrre. After this threat, though, the girls fell asleep and slept all night long. When Jim texted me they were both asleep, I asked him to make sure they were both alive...
Anyway, it was a success! Today was rough bc Jack kept H up later than usual and she was super crabby but, as you can see in the pics below- she got over it. With the help of my fudge bar. I opened up the wrapper. Hilly bolted over to me, mouth agape. She finished the whole thing. When it was gone, she fell to her knees in despair. That's like my life story, H. I totally get it. Meanwhile Miss Jack stood a foot away suspiciously eyeing the popsicle. "What is that?" Me: "Chocolate. Come have some!" She just shook her head and watched H and I stuff our faces.
Also below was a sweet moment I caught between Jackie and H. In a moment of desperation, Jim and I put on Toy Story for the girls. H laid her head on the couch and Jax started stroking her back and head. When H stood up, Jax made a comfy spot with the blanket, patted it and said sweetly and softly to H "Come lay!"
Lastly, while writing this entry, Hilly managed to fall down ONE step. Approximately 6 inches. And split her lip. Her lips have split more times than I ever thought possible. Jim and I are going to lose our minds if this love of climbing lasts much longer. Reminds me of the beach. Hilly was on a kamikaze mission- everything she found on ground went directly in her mouth. Ok, Jim just made guacamole and it is making me feel better about my daughter's bloody lip. It will no doubt make Hilly feel better about her bloody lip too.
