Lazy Weekend

Friday: Post u/s eludes me. Post-nap I heard a solitary croup-y sounding cough and knew it was trouble. But we read and colored all day.

Saturday, 5AM: Jax wakes up with croup, so Jim bundles them both up and they go out on the balcony in the rain. I have to laugh because it was dark and I was trying to distract her so I said "it snowed!" (the wet tree branches looked icy). So in the midst of this chaos- all of us outside in the rain and Jackie barking like a seal, Jim looks at me and says "It's not snowing." and, realizing how totally irrelevant his statement was and how he had missed the boat completely, he followed it up with "Are you serious, Clark?" haha

I knew we would have cabin fever in no time. :(

The girls got a visit from Grammy, Pops and Aunt Angie that morning which they loved and tired them out.

Trying to think...

Sunday we took the girls to the mall before it opened and Jackie and Jim threw pennies into the fountain. Holy crap- was this a hit. She was screaming with delight. Hillers is so game for anything. She sat in her stroller, cruising the mall like a champ.

Then pet store which is obviously a hit. Jackie calls it the "dog food store." There was a cat in a glass box at Hilly's level and it jumped up to attack her. Hilly jumped up so high and bolted. This story will never do it justice but I hope I remember her little peanut body flying into the air for the rest of my life.

We attempted a walk in the afternoon and FINALLY that crappy blue umbrella stroller that Jackie loved bc it was cousin Parker's when he was a baby broke. All the sudden I hear Jim yell "whoa! Man down!" and see him with a 3 wheeled stroller. Hahaha.

Today the girls woke up miserable- Jackie whined like a champ about everything. She snapped out of it with goldfish and her magnetic dolls. But when she is whiny she wants to be held- standing up, down steps. In a perfect world I could hold her all the time, the reality is that I can't be carrying her up and down steps constantly and she needs to do that herself. I told her I will hold her all day sitting down but I will not pick her up (regularly) standing up or carry her up/down stairs. That's why my back gave out in October. Lifting from the legs in theory is easy - or when you lift once every few months- but I am lifting little people in/out of cars/high chairs/strollers/cribs/beds/steps/bath tub ALL day, every day. Lifting from legs ain't happening each time. So I everyone must do what they can, including Hilly climbing those damn steps alone.

Ok, enough.

We are homebound waiting for some guy to come tune up our boiler and I am about to lose my mind. I hate waiting for contractors.
